Modern Labor Day Staycation
Labor Day is almost upon us. Instead of heading out of town this holiday weekend, why not stay close to home and enjoy a Modern Labor Day Staycation? The following are some of our favorite modern spots for fun and relaxation.
For those who want to have a true vacation experience, check out the Rosewood Crescent Hotel or The Joule. The Crescent, located in Dallas’ Uptown neighborhood, is “modern elegance defined.” The Crescent is within walking distance of Dallas’ Arts District, where the new Winspear Opera House and Wyly Theatre complete the largest urban arts district in America. This luxury hotel offers a modern environment, a serene spa, and fantastic Texas charm.
The Joule, located in Downtown Dallas, offers modern design and furnishing that is the ultimate in indulgence. Located adjacent to the flagship Neiman Marcus department store and walking distance to the Dallas Arts District, The Joule offers the perfect modern stay for anyone wanting to relax and play in style. We find the modern chaise chairs at the pool especially enticing!
Located at 1621 Oak Lawn Ave. Ascension offers staycationers two of the most important vacation vices — morning coffee and a late afternoon glass of wine. We particularly love the passion they infuse in every cup of coffee. With a focus on incredible, high-quality, farmer-focused coffee from all over the world, their obsession for perfect coffee is evident in every drip of caffeinated (and decaf) perfection. They also choose wines from boutique wineries and long-acclaimed vineyards around the globe. Ascension will quickly become your newest obsession.
Situated over Woodall Rogers Freeway in the Dallas Arts District, Klyde Warren Park creates green space out of thin air. The park offers four to five activities everyday that are free to park visitors. We are big fans of the free yoga class offered every Sunday at 10am.
Located in the Dallas Design District, FT33 is more than food. FT33 is where farmers and artisans come together to provide the choicest seasonal ingredients that inspire an ever-changing menu of handcrafted dishes with a truly modern flair. FT33 is a “must-eat” for the Dallas modern staycationer!
Prohibition Liquor Bar is a ‘Roaring 1920’s’ inspired lounge located at 1404 Main Street in Downtown Dallas. Prohibition offers great food, but it is the craft cocktails we love. Set to the tune of timeless music and burlesque entertainment, Prohibition is all about having a great time!
The Rachovsky House is the quintessential modern home and is a “must see” for anyone who is interested in modern art, architecture, and design. Although the home is located at Preston Hollow at 8605 Preston Road, the Rachovsky art collection is on display at the The Warehouse, which is located 14105 Inwood Road.
Sprinkles Ice Cream (located in Preston Center Plaza) is the next best thing since cupcakes! Sprinkles Ice Cream uses handcrafted, organic California dairy and carefully selected ingredients, slow-churned to perfection. The ice cream is then scooped into crisp red velvet waffle cones, pressed between fluffy cupcake tops or piled high into sundaes loaded with housemade sauces and toppings. Yea, we are in heaven!
